Häring’s international operations
Häring’s international operations combine adding value locally with environmental concerns, based on mutual respect among all partners. In Asia, as elsewhere, wood offers unimagined possibilities on this dynamic market. There is a growing awareness that locally based processing and production brings the greatest benefits. This insight led Häring to launch Haring Swiss Wood Structures (Tianjin) Ltd. in China for the manufacture of glulam supporting structures. We are committed to helping the highly versatile, eco-friendly material wood break into this market.
Swiss know-how and quality can also benefit other cultures. Häring’s international operations focus on long-term prospects. As well as investing in production facilities for high-quality timber products, this also includes providing support for training and ensuring a comprehensive transfer of expertise and experience from Switzerland.
Technology transfer to Bhutan
It all started with a fact-finding trip by the Bhutan Forestry Authority (BFA) to Switzerland in 2012. One of the delegation’s ports of call was the Häring Group member Roth Burgdorf AG. This was followed by a return visit to Bhutan. Impressed by the architectural potential in cutting-edge timber engineering, the BFA sought to order a pilot construction from Switzerland to provide an attractive multi-purpose hall for its new Royal Academy. Instead, Häring suggested employing locals to construct the hall from native wood – true to the Group’s sustainability ideal.
