Extension of apartment blocks in Zurich Altstetten: Five new flats by adding a storey

In Zurich Altstetten, we were commissioned by a private property owner to add a total of five new flats to two existing apartment blocks. The extensions were carried out by adding a full storey and an attic storey to one property and an attic storey to the other.

Two 1-room attic flats were created on the first building, while the second building was given a new full storey with two 2.5-room flats and an attic storey with a spacious 3.5-room flat. The new flats vary in size between 29 m² and 72 m².

In addition to the extension, the downpipes were also renovated, the electrics brought up to date and the façades painted as part of the construction work. The new flats are finished to a good standard and have glass railings as noise protection.

The buildings also house a hairdressing salon, which offers residents additional amenities. The modern floor plans of the new flats and the practical location of the properties contribute to the attractiveness of the extended apartment blocks.

This extension represents a sensible redensification in an urban area and creates urgently needed living space in a sought-after residential neighbourhood in Zurich.
