Häring-Lehrlinge bauen Sieger-Brücke aus Glacestängeli

Häring apprentices build winning bridge out of wooden glacé sticks

On the 27th of March, the award ceremony for the most beautiful and stable glacé sticks-bridge took place in Biel. The event was organised by the Schweizerische Verband der Strassen- und Verkehrsfachleute VSS together with the office AJS ingénieurs civils SA and in partnership with the Berner Fachhochschule. The task of this competition was to bridge a given span of 100 cm as effectively as possible. The "effectiveness" of the bridge was evaluated with a breaking test on the test bench according to the load-bearing capacity achieved in relation to its own weight. This evaluation formula rewarded those who arrived at the most efficient solution with a minimum of material consumption. Only glacé sticks and glue were allowed as building materials. Apprentices in the trades of draughtsman and draughtswoman from various disciplines from all over Switzerland were able to take part. Our three apprentices Timo Meerstetter, Stefanie Steinacher and Dan Scharwächter won 1st prize with their work both in the overall ranking and in the special category "Aesthetics" - congratulations!
