Review- technology meets Architecture

The annual Holzbau Forum - Technology meets Architecture - took place on 20 September. Once again we had the pleasure of welcoming many guests to Eiken, who enjoyed various presentations and discussions with us on the topic of boundless timber construction. In addition to the presentation of the lighthouse project Schulhaus Port by Basil Spiess (Skop Architekten) and Andi Kern (Häring AG), the latest trends and innovations in the field of glulam were presented by Prof. Dr. Andrea Frangi of the ETH Zurich. After a short excursion to the Himalayas in Bhutan, to what is probably the highest and smallest factory for the production of glulam by David Häring (Häring AG), insights into high-performance sport were offered by Tanja Frieden (Olympic champion 2006 snowboard cross). Despite all the innovation, technology and digitalisation, Tanja Frieden pointed out what is constantly at the centre of attention and almost forgotten in the face of all the technology. Namely, we humans. Tanja showed us what it takes for us humans to be able to move or even set boundaries. We look back on a very interesting timber construction forum and are already looking forward to the next meeting of technology and architecture.
