Success at the 2022 National Bridge Building Competition
32 teams with 74 apprentices and FH students from all three parts of the country presented their constructions at the 2nd National Bridge Construction Competition of the VSS Schweizerischer Verband der Strassen- und Verkehrsfachleute at the Congress Centre in Biel.
Our apprentice carpenters Dan Scharwächter, Timo Meerstetter and Kay Hürlimann, accompanied by our designer Stefanie Steinacher, won 1st place for the most effective bridge and 2nd place for the special aesthetics prize in the 2022 bridge building competition.
The highlight was the breaking test. With a minimum of material - glacé sticks of wood and glue - our team's 634g bridge construction achieved a load capacity of 251kg in the break test.
Congratulations on the successful project, we are proud of you.
The VSSSchweizerischer Verband der Strassen- und Verkehrsfachleute organised the bridge-building competition together with the company AJS ingénieurs civils SA, based in Neuenburg, and in partnership with the Bern Fachhochschule BFH.
